Finding the Right Dentist for Kids

Everyone should see a dentist in North York regularly. That includes the children. While it may not seem like a pressing issue right now, choosing to find the right dentist to provide care for the kids will make a difference today and in the years to come. Here are some of the benefits that result from finding the ideal professional to help your kids with their teeth.

Making Dental Care Fun

It's hard to imagine anyone being all that excited about things like brushing, flossing, and using some sort of mouth rinse. Adults typically see basic dental hygiene as a necessity but not something the look forward to doing. Why would children be any different?

When you ask others “do you know of a good kids dentist near me” and find the right professional, don’t be surprised if he or she has some ideas that make taking care of the teeth at least a little fun. It may be colorful brushes shaped like characters from a cartoon, flavored toothpastes, or several other ideas. Those measures will go a long way toward encouraging the kids to remember to brush after meals and learn to use floss properly.

Someone The Kids Trust

Adults are not the only ones who can find all sorts of reason to not see a dentist. With kids, there’s the general anxiety about going, but there’s often another factor there. A dentist the kids do not know and get along with intimidates them. When they like and trust the dental professional, getting them to go is less of a chore.

When you ask friends “can you recommend a kids’ dentist near me," always ask how well the professional seems to get along with the patients. If you hear glowing reports about how children seem to really like the dentist, that one is worth trying.

Learning How to Encourage the Kids to Brush After Meals

A dentist in North York knows more than one strategy to encourage kids to brush after meals. Flavored toothpastes and fun toothbrushes are only the beginning. A dentist who can talk with the kids using words they understand can drive home the point of why brushing matters. Showing them how to brush properly helps too. Many dentists who focus on treating children exercise patience and treat the kids with respect. Children pick up on that and are likely to take whatever the dentist recommends seriously.

Helping the Kids Develop Good Habits for a Lifetime

The right dentist in North York wants more than to get the kids to come in regularly and take care of their teeth in the interim. That professional wants them to develop habits that help them keep their teeth healthy well into the retirement years. Praise when they do well and encouragement when they haven’t been doing the best job help to reinforce the importance of proper dental hygiene. With the aid of a patient dental professional, those habits will become ingrained and last a lifetime.

Are you already asking others “do you know a kids dentist near me?” and hoping to find the right one for your children? Call today and make an appointment. It won’t take long to see how the staff and the dentist ensure the kids are comfortable, treated with care, and will decide that coming back now and then will be okay.

WE ARE OPEN!

Hello!

We are so excited to announce that the Royal College of Dental Surgeons has just given us the green light to begin seeing all non-essential and deferred treatment! Under the guidance of the RCDSO, all dentists in Ontario will now be able to re-open their practices for routine care and treatment. Up until now, due to COVID19 pandemic restrictions, dentists have only been permitted to provide emergency dental treatment. This means that we have been unable to provide any other type of dental procedures since mid-March.

We can't wait to get back to work and begin seeing our patients again! We are spending this week implementing the changes mandated by the ministry of health and the dental association and will resume a normal schedule starting next week. You can rest assured that the safety of our community, our patients, and our team members are of utmost importance and we will have implemented additional safety measures and precautions. This is in addition to our already strict infection control protocols that were already in place.

Please be patient with us and give us some time to contact you; if you have had an appointment rescheduled, you are at the top of our list to call. We will be doing our best to ensure that everyone is re-booked as soon as possible. However, if you would like to get in sooner, or are having a concern, please feel free to give us a call.

What can I expect at my next dental appointment?

  • We will be pre-screening all patients prior to their appointments, and one more time upon arrival.
  • We are requesting that only the person who is booked for an appointment enter the office where ever possible (parents and caregivers will be permitted if necessary).
  • Upon arrival for your appointment, you will be asked to use hand sanitizer at the front entrance, and also to wear a mask until you are seated in the treatment room. (A mask will be provided if you do not have your own)
  • We will be staggering appointment times to limit the number of people in our offices to promote and encourage physical distancing.
  • There are hand hygiene stations located throughout the offices.
  • We have installed plexiglass barriers in the waiting room to protect our patients and team members.
